Upcoming Events – September 2017
We will have lots of the greatest, freshest produce available this month! You should come down and see it all. And buy some to take home, too. With all the sunshine we’ve had this summer, you know those tomatoes are going to be everywhere! Not to mention the corn, onions, lettuce, blue berries…I could go on, but come down and see it all for yourselves. While you’re buying your produce, you can enjoy these events happening this month:
Our band for the day will be the Impressions Jazz band. A cool Northwest band playing jazz (of course!), funk, rock and blues. This group is back by popular demand! Here’s a little taste of what you have in store: https://soundcloud.com/impressions-jazz-band
Theme: We provide Labor Day Weekend fixings for your big weekend celebrations!
Our Community Booth will be hosted by the local Master Gardeners, who will answer your questions about growing your garden. Also, Skagit PUD will be there to answer questions about water conservation, and their upcoming Skagit River Salmon Festival (Sept. 9th)
Farmers Market Flash is here to help families make healthy food choices. Want to know more about what they offer? Check out their web site: http://extension.wsu.edu/skagit/fam/farmers-market-flash/ or ask them at the market.
WIC will be available also to help answer questions about this program.

Help us celebrate Latino heritage at the market! We are looking forward to our very own Mount Vernon Mariachi Band and Singers to perform for us. But wait! There’s more! Cubasere, a Cubano Dance group will provide salsa dancing demos and lessons, so everyone can get into the act!
Look for a special appearance of MVHS Cheerleaders and be ready to do some cheering of your own!

Across the river from the market, will be the annual Skagit River Salmon Festival, at Edgewater Park, from 10AM to 6PM. Come down and make a day out of visitint the market and the Festival.
This weekend look for the Bike MS group, to ride through the area. It’s estimated that 2000 riders will be here! Wow!
Our band this week is The Hometowners, from Burlington. Tom and Joe will play your favorite classic country and country rock music. http://hometownersmusic.com/
An interesting group, The Skagit Fisheries Enhancement will provide information at our community booth.
Our cooking demonstrator will be Suzanne Butler, performing miracles with food. Honestly, folks, you don’t want to miss this. This lady’s cooking is a legend in Skagit County.
Kids will be super-excited to see what the Museum of NW Art has in store for them at the Kids Booth, of course!
Looking forward to the sounds of Sean Bendickson, a little country, a little folk, a little rock. Here’s a little sample from their web site: http://seanbendickson.wixsite.com/sean-bendickson/listen

She’ll be here to discuss her best seller, Sylvia’s Spinach, as well as her philosophy about food and kids. Katherine will be at our Kids Booth this week. We promise, this will be a special treat for kids and adults.
Calle Martin, our local expert on composting will be at the community booth. If you have questions about composting, Calle has the answers!
