Volunteer Opportunities
In 2020 we recorded 221 volunteer hours saving the market almost $3,000 in wages, which is crucial as a non-profit organization. The Mount Vernon Farmers Market (MVFM) operates a bustling market every Saturday (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM) for 22 weeks every Market Season. For 2021, the Market will run from May 15, 2021 to October 9, 2021. Over 90 local vendors participate in the market each year and our foot traffic grows year to year. Volunteers are crucial for a successful market and we love to include as many enthusiastic members of our community as possible in our mission. During a three-hour shift (8:45 AM-11:30AM or 11:30 AM-2:15 PM), volunteers will help set up (or take down) and staff the MVFM raffle table, answer general questions, and assist the Market Manager as needed. Other duties have also included helping with foot traffic counts, surveys, and cooking demonstrations. It is a fun way to enjoy the sunshine and meet members of the community.
